Welcome! I’m glad you’re wondering how Zipplebarth, the imaginary, translucent, purple dragon, became interested in societal and political commentary.
Zipplebarth was spontaneously hatched in the imagination of Troy Eckhardt as a result of having to mentally process something very irksome. While happily spending some time trying not to be accosted by weirdos, someone suggested to him that he should bend the rules of English grammar to accommodate a person’s delusion that they were not a member of one of the two human genders.
Troy’s mind immediately turned to the possibility that other delusions could be declared real, and that otherwise sane bystanders could be asked (or made) to pretend along with the deluded person that their misguided fantasies actually mean something in the real world.
Because he has a great fondness of demonstrating absurdity by being absurd, Troy thought, “What if I thought I were a translucent purple dragon…” and the name Zipplebarth just popped into his mind. You can read the whole story in his open letter to some dude (dudette?) named Andi.
So Zipplebarth became Troy’s alter ego. He stands for the belief that through sound reasoning, people encumbered by the logicless, emotionally-driven hysteria of post-Christian thinking can be set free. For those who have already come to this realization, he is a reminder that the right-minded, although we may be decreasing in numbers, are still far from alone.
Incidentally, Zipplebarth, be he man or dragon, is a Christian, homeschooling husband and father of seven who owns and runs a professional service in Florida, where it’s often hotter than dragon’s breath.
