Was Dr. Seuss a Racist?

A Dr. Seuss museum in Massachusetts has decided to remove a mural depicting a Chinese character from his beloved book “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.”  This was decided after three authors threatened to not attend a gala of some kind at the museum.

Someone, please explain to me why the Chinaman in  is “racially insensitive.” Pretend I’m seven years old and tell me in plain English how a Chinese person feels when they see this, and why. Bonus points if you’re actually Chinese, but you won’t be.

The Chinese eat rice with chopsticks, wear rice hats, and have epicanthic folds in their upper eyelids, giving them a distinctive look. Everyone knows it. Depicting it IS NOT RACIST. AT ALL.

If this IS racist, tell me how Üter Zörker, pictured at left, isn’t racist. Then tell me why no one is throwing a fit about it, especially non-German social justice warriors. Is this just not something that has hit the virtue signaling hit parade yet? Should I call that moronic school librarian to get her yelping about this right away? Maybe she should start the ball rolling and then we can tear the Simpson’s episodes that contain him to pieces and condemn Matt Groening for being insensitive.

As an American of German descent who speaks German, who has lived, loved, schooled, played, and worked in Germany for years, who loves the German people and culture, who is overweight, and who has owned lederhosen, let me tell you how upset I am that fat little Üter Zörker is pictured in my people’s traditional garb, stuffing his face with German chocolate. At the same time, shall I also express exactly how I feel about Homer Simpson wearing a German hat, holding steins, and carrying an alpine horn while acting like an ass in a few episodes?

Nothing. I feel nothing. Maybe they’re a little funny, actually. So yeah – I feel a little mirth. But mostly nothing. Certainly no outrage whatsoever.

Tell me again why non-Chinese people imagine the Chinaman to be insensitive. Explain it, leftist friend. I absolutely DARE you.

THIS is what I mean by “snowflake” behavior. It’s illogical, it’s an attempt to selectively enforce haphazard rules rectifying problems that don’t exist, and it’s nothing but a bunch of stupidity.

I vomit right into your virtue signaling party. I really, really do.
